I recently returned from a trip to Bora Bora with my wife before I even jump into this quick read let me say this…..
Bora Bora is a 100% without a doubt “bucketlist” place for everyone in the world. If you are ever fortunate enough to find the time to travel there PLEASE take my advice and DO-IT. You will not regret it I promise you on that.
Now as most people know and can see via my own personal un-edited photos here it’s beautiful beyond words, the resorts, the mountains, the weather, beaches and the water majestically unreal……only it is real it’s all real.
Over the past 5-6 years I have been busy what I call “grinding” working my ass off on things I love studying, training, writing, reading and more…I have given up a lot over the past few years to make certain things happen. I have made numerous sacrifices just like most of you have in your own personal lives as well to reach some level of professional “success” if you will.
Being on a small minimally populated tropical island with minimal technology “off the grid” if you will…..I had a lot of time to reflect on my life both past-present-and think about my future.
I came up with this about myself and it might apply to many of you as well…..
I often times become so focused and obsessed on the destination and even I forget about the real important part of this “life” process called the journey.
More importantly I forget sometimes about the amazingness of the people I have come in contact with on this badass journey.
Moving forward I need to take more time to sincerely appreciate these people, telling them and letting them know how important there are to my life.
This trip also amplified how blessed I truly am – I would even say spoiled with all that I have.
Yet I don’t know if I really appreciate my own life enough for what I have in comparison to the rest of the world…(I am working on that)
I also realized…
My job title doesn’t matter to me….
How big my house is doesn’t matter to me…..
What kind of car I drive doesn’t matter to me…..
What DOES MATTER to me is…..
The kind of person I am becoming….
The relationships with people in my life…..
The experiences I have on this journey….
The impact I can positively have on others….
How much I can truly give back to the world…..
Sometimes taking a few days away from working in your “life” allows to start working on your “life”…..
A little reflection on why we do what we do and questioning our own beliefs, actions, and daily habits can have a profound affect on us.
I urge you guys to take a few minutes – even just 60 seconds #mandatoryminute – to think about your life in the ways I have described here.
Who knows it might just light a fire or ignite something inside you to do things just a little different.
Until next time eat well, train hard & be nice to people!
