Warning: This Post Might Make You Take A Dump….
This post was inspired and taken from my girl Kim Maes over at www.healingthegut.com – Kim also co-authored our Get Lean Gluten Free cookbook with me…. so she knows her stuff.
I dug into her post in depth on our podcast listen more by CLICKING HERE.
Per Kim’s message below… and she quotes
“Admit it, we all get a little backed up from time to time. When it happens to you, you end up feeling bloated, uncomfortable, and just plain blecky. For some of you, this becomes such a normal way of life that you probably don’t even know any different or realize that constipation is NOT normal.
If you are one of these people, you might be shocked to hear that a healthy digestive system means that you are consistently having at least one, even two, easy-to-pass bowel movements a day.
If your bowels aren’t on board with this schedule, it might be time to have a heart-to-heart with your digestive tract and get things moving along at a clipper pace. And while the time between bowel movements ranges from person to person, if you are going longer than three days without a bowel movement, that is just waaaaay too long.
After three days, not only does the stool become harder and more difficult to pass, but as it is sitting in your colon, it is putrefying, decaying, and expelling more toxins back into your body.
Think about what happens if you forget to empty your trashcan for weeks, yet you keep shoving more trash into that can? Think about the smell, the decay, the fermenting, and the bacteria that would begin to build up? THAT, my friends, is the exact same thing happens in your colon as you continue to eat (add trash to the can), but not regularly eliminate the waste (the garbage)!
Over time, those toxins that began in the intestines start to leak out throughout your body and become stored in your cells, in your brain, and in your nervous tissue.
When this happens, your body becomes primed for a whole host of diseases and is ripe with inflammation. You feel sluggish and heavy, your brain doesn’t function it’s best, your intestines are inflamed, and you are at risk for so many other illnesses.
Some of the top contributors to constipation include:
Dehydration * Lack of exercise * Poor functioning thyroid gland and other hormonal issues * Use of NSAIDS and other medications such as antidepressants, anticonvulsants, opioids, and antacids * Lack of fiber in diet * Diets high in sugar and processed foods * Pregnancy * Leaky Gut.
So if you are ready to kick constipation to the curb and help lighten your load, below are what I consider to be the BEST 7 home remedies to END constipation and keep you going for good”
