Erica Mims Jeremy Scott Fitness Athlete of the Month


Where are you originally from?

I am originally from Chicago, but I have been in Arizona since 1986, and I am just starting to get used to the heat.


How long have you been coming to JSF?

I think it was the summer of 2012, my first day was really hot and I thought that I was going to throw up…because ropes + heat=nausea. I was really worried because I felt a little like I was auditioning for a spot at JSF and if I threw up, then I would be sent home…like American Idol, but fitness.


What was your fitness regimen prior to JSF and what made you
choose/switch to JSF?

I was intermittently working out at home, with some videotapes…okay I will admit I have EVERY series from Beachbody, P90x, Turbofire, Insanity etc. They all got boring, and I needed something that would push me and made me accountable. I found Jeremy Scott Fitness as advertised on a tee-shirt. So, I looked it up on line and thought that he worked people out in his home garage. I decided to give it a try and was thrilled to get my life back because I didn’t have to work out for 1+ hours anymore!


What do you like best about JSF?

I love the workouts, the people, Monica, Kelly and of course Jeremy Scott. Part of what makes me show up everyday is that I know Jeremy gets up every morning and is there before me and if he can do then so can I, NO EXCUSES. I also love the moment I walk into that place and think “I got this” I realize that he has put together some Navy Seal style workout and I am humble again.


What do you like to do in your free time?

What free time, a lot of homework, and hang out with my family. I try to stay active and have a great group of people who workout at JSF to motivate me.


What’s your favorite cheat meal?

All the food I am not supposed to eat. Let’s say Candy, it’s not a meal but I love candy.


What is your advice for other members to get great results?

Once you finally stop making excuses for why you “can’t” and make it a priority to get the food part under control, you will be happier and healthier. IT WORKS IF YOU WORK FOR IT.
