Athlete Spotlight Lisa Petterossi – Jeremy Scott Fitness
What brought you to Jeremy Scott Fitness and how long have you been a member?
Having decided to take a sabbatical from my career after almost 19 years with my company, it was time for me to invest in my family, myself, and for clarity. Within weeks of having freedom, a friend picked me up (she may have told me we were going out for coffee) and we showed up for a complimentary week at Jeremy Scott Fitness. We took one class and I have never looked back, which was over two years ago.
How did you feel at the beginning when you joined?
I was overweight, almost to my full-term pregnancy weight, without actually being pregnant. Having been complacent for so many years, I had no idea how out of shape I truly was sitting at a desk and then entertaining clients night after night. I worked for the ASU Strength and Conditioning team during college and knew what it took to get back into shape. After a few weeks at JSF, I felt alive again. I felt part of a team, a family that did not judge, did not make comparison. If I showed up, I know I had already accomplished more than I had the day before.
Unconditionally. Slow and steady. I knew it wasn’t going to happen overnight. It was going to take commitment and consistently, each and every day.
How do you feel now?
Amazing! On top of the world!
I have a personal statement that I say to myself each morning when I wake, that being, “today, I stand tall and strong, inside and out”. While I may have always stood tall, thank you to Jeremy Scott Fitness, today, I also stand very strong.
In addition, I love having my Girl Squad at class. We motivate and encourage each other to the end…. which sometimes includes pushing that lovely sled, especially when its loaded with plates. You are the best!
What have you accomplished since working with Jeremy Scott Fitness?
I learned that consistency is the name of the game. I make it my daily appointment. Nothing will take away from my 30 minutes at JSF (actually, 27 on most days due to my arrival time, sorry Jeremy and Monica). Unless an emergency like death or a vacation, it is my top priority every Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Period.
I have also lost 45 pounds and am finally fitting into a closet full of clothes that I have by dreaming to get into again.
In one word how would you describe Jeremy Scott Fitness?
WORK
What advice do you have for others?
We only have one life, one body, make it your priority. Make fitness, health and disease prevention a priority, a life-long commitment. If you don’t do it for yourself, no one will.
And lastly, if you have your own family, be the best role model to them. Trust me, they are watching closely. Let them also carry on those great habits to live a long life.
What’s your favorite quote? LOL!
If your Friends don’t Motivate and Improve you, you’re choosing them WRONG
Slow Progress is better than no progress
I’m defining more than just my body, I’m defining myself
