Athlete of the Month – Phil Lechter
Team Jeremy Scott Fitness
Where are you originally from?
Born in New Jersey, Raised early years in Maryland and then teen years in Milwaukee. Been in AZ for 23 years now.
How long have you been coming to JSF?
I started with JSF back in June. My wife had been a client for a few months thanks to Jen Stockhill. My wife said, ‘Your Lechter Ledge (belly) is hogging the bed…start doing something!” My wife is a workout warrior but after 20 years of doing the same thing she plateaued. In 1 month with JSF her entire body shifted. So when she said come try this, how could I say no.
What was your fitness regimen prior to JSF and what made you choose/switch to JSF?
I have been a yoyo exerciser all my adult life. On again — off again. When I don’t work out I turn to food for stress, so it ultimately became a double whammy. Then I meet Jeremy… dude was cool, fit and coached in a way that I felt like I belonged. He held me accountable and leads by example.
What do you like best about JSF?
I love the fact that every day is different and the environment is all about personal bests. The way the work outs are structured, I leave exhausted and fulfilled and I can walk or move the next day. Not that I am not sore, but the combination of plyometrics, cardio, body weight and stretching leaves my body loose and feeling great. Last year I joined a cross fit gym and for the first 2 months I couldn’t walk I was soooo sore…I buy into no pain, no gain but that was to the point of medication. The sequence of exercise at JSF really makes the difference. Equally valuable is the weekly food coaching. Being accountable to completing my food logs and getting weekly feedback was truly a blessing.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I am a coach. Youth sports… football, baseball, basketball and I love the outdoors.
What’s your favorite cheat meal?
This is a tough one as I am a sugar-holic…so since I love chocolate and gummies, I would have to say chocolate covered gummy bears.
What is your advice for other members to get great results?
Find a competitive spirit…with yourself. That was key for me as I learned to strive to do better each day. Anthony Robbins once asked this question… “If you set out to do 10 reps in an exercise today, which rep is most important? Tony’s answer: the 11th.” Work at your pace, and each training session achieve 1 personal best.
Phil we are blown away by your dedication to both your workouts and your food logging. You have made some huge changes and we look forward to seeing even more of your transformation in the future. Keep up the hard work!!!
