The Day I Skipped Work

The Day I Skipped Work ~ Jeremy Scott Fitness

Yesterday was the 1st day I haven’t gotten up at 3:50am or came into work all of 2018. I moved out here almost 10 years ago and this week was the first time my old man got a chance to come visit and see the business and life I have built here. Now my old man to give you a full picture is like Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino – a man of very few words with an extremely hard exterior.

With that said I skipped work took him and my family around our city, went extreme go-kart racing, visited one of our favorite 5-star resorts tucked in the mountains here and enjoyed an amazing night.

I share this with you guys because I don’t have many memories like this with my old man. Growing up our financial class and family dynamic didn’t cater to doing these things often if ever, so I feel very fortunate at this stage of my life to be able to do these things now. Looking back on it, yesterday will be probably be one of the days I remember most in the totality of my life.

The takeaway ~ it doesn’t matter if you are 19 or 91 yrs. old you have the rest of your life however long it lasts to make memories, create experiences and have adventures.

If you take anything away from my posts, videos, podcasts don’t let it be just kick ass workouts and nutrition advice. Let it be this ~ life is short, weeks fly by like days, and the things we truly value and cherish most are experience/memories with those who matter to us.

Your legacy won’t be defined by followers, likes, the car you drove, your zip code, the zeros in your bank account it will be defined by how you made others feel, the impact you had on them, the joy you brought their life, and the experiences you shared together.

Chris McCandless said it best ~ “Happiness is only real when shared” and as I have gotten older I found this to be 100% accurate. All $$$, accomplishments, and “success” in the world isn’t worth much if you can’t share it with those who matter to you most…. think about it.

Until next time, eat well train hard, be nice to people and keep doing shit you love with people you enjoy your life is too short not to!
