~ Lead by Example ~
Guest Post via our Youth Coach Lead Jacob McLaughlin
This past weekend I worked an event where kids were able to do fitness activities.
It was an absolute blast, but there was one thing that kept sticking out to me.
Many of the parents would urge their kids (telling them to do more push ups/ squats etc) or inform me how their child has a weight problem….. when in reality the parents couldn’t do one rep of the exercises or were extremely overweight.
Now this is not a slam on parents, but with the OBESITY crisis in America I feel parents need to be responsible for what their kids are putting in their bodies…
As parents you track finances, schedules, but what about food?
If you don’t want your kids to be overweight you need to lead by example and live a healthier life style:
- Eat more vegetables
- Be active (going for walks, hiking, riding bikes)
- Positive Self-Talk
- Good Sleeping Habits
- Exercise with your kids
I want every kid to have the opportunity to live a fun and healthy life and it all starts with the Parents.
So until next time …do something active and live the life you want!
