Is It Worth It? Inside Life Under 10% Body Fat

Living in Single Digit Body Fat

Being shredded, ripped, diced, peeled, crazy lean or whatever word you choose to use isn’t the pinnacle of fitness.

For most average gym goers with careers, kids and active social lives, getting super lean at best is a short lived moment in time, not a lifestyle. Sure it might look good in the mirror, at the beach or the pool but it’s not the end-all, be-all of health.

For many people the pursuit has too many trade offs like…

  • Time invested in training with increased frequency and intensity of workouts

  • Feeling hungry often

  • Less energy at times

  • Diligent calorie & macro tracking

  • Limited indulgences when it comes to certain food & drinks

The level of strict discipline it takes to not only get super lean but stay super lean 365 the juice really isn’t worth the squeeze for most busy adults.

True Fitness is About:

  • Feeling strong

  • Moving well

  • Having real strength

  • Resilience

  • Mobility

  • Longevity…and then what you look like

This living lean daily has been part of my job (it’s my work) for the past 20 years as I built a BIG part of this business in the early years solely on what I looked like.

And while living this way fits my OCD, boring, anti social personality even for me at times I find myself cold, hungry and dreaming about pancakes on a random Wednesday morning.

In all seriousness, I enjoy living this lean and feel great most days but it’s not always easy and it’s certainly not for many people. I hope this gives you some valuable real honest insight and education into the cost of getting lean.

The takeaway ….

Don’t just chase being shredded unless it truly enhances the quality of your life, ask yourself are the trade offs worth it? For some of you they might be, but for others they certainly aren’t.

I would suggest pursuing and working hard for what is sustainable for long term health and happiness both inside and outside the gym.
